4th Meal

It's obviously an addiction, I eat at Taco Bell after midnight at least 5 nights a week now - it's awful, I am going broke doing this! Consider having your parents buy you microwavable meals instead of spending a ton on off-campus dining options.

Wofford Scholars day was a great day for me, I hope everyone who came enjoyed it. I woke up since 7:30 to meet with all of you and tell about the great life here at Wofford College. It was interesting, I met people all the way from Texas, I was surprised, especially since she came from a school of 1200 people in her graduating class. Scholars day was good until the football game, we were doing great, then all of a sudden the tides turned and we weren't able to recover from there, but better luck this weekend at the Wofford-FU game.

The Guys Soccer team are the SoCon Champions and are going to be competing against the UC Santa Barbara team this Friday - keep an eye out for them on ESPN 360, hopefully they will be on.

Today in Bio Lab we did this experiment on caterpillars and their preference for the type of food items they will consume, well - mine all died, apparently T ni caterpillar do not enjoy the taste of Lime Leafs and will die from the excessive amount of citrus found in the leaves, perfect, now I am the caterpillar killer.

I hate to say it, but I haven't taken any pictures this weekend since I decided to go home and miss Swamp Water at SAE,  I know - major fail. But keep an eye out hopefully I will have pictures up from the Wofford - FU game.

Smores and Rednecks?

Never ever try to major in Government and Biology - they both require a billion pages of reading and lots of memorization, don't get me wrong the professors are amazing, just you have to be Einstein to be able to keep up with both of the course loads! I hate to say this, but I am not longer a Bio/Gov major, I still have a deep passion for American Politics, but I think it's God's way of saying that I should just stay on the sidelines and watch rather throw myself into the political spectrum. Rather I have changed to a Bio/Span major, two great departments here at Wofford, Spanish is so interacting and fun - I look forward to that semester abroad! If any of your have any questions about majors here at Wofford, please feel free to comment I will surely get back at you.

Thursday night was a quick excerpt of this upcoming weekend - Swamp Water at SAE and the Techno Party at Pike, everyone is already breaking a sweat getting their dance moves together for two big parties. There was a great Campfire and Band at the Row tonight, putting together smores and rednecks as the band sang a Wofford favorite, FAMILY TRADITION by Hank Williams Jr. Just a quick side note if you plan on coming to Wofford, learn this song, I promise you, it will make singing along so much easier!

This weekend there is a big football game against Samford, we will be hosting our Wofford Scholars, if you are one and you are going to be here this weekend, I am going to be one of the greeters, feel free to ask any questions and if you would like a "students" perspective of Wofford, I would love to help!

Wofford Bubble?

Apparently there is such a thing as a Wofford Bubble. I was in shock when my RPM told our FYI Class that Wofford is a collective bubble and that we need to get out of it every once in a while. Well I guess I will do that this weekend, I am going to USC for my sister's Cheerleading Competition and hopefully hang out with some USC friends.

This week was such a busy week, school work, halloween parties, and my besties here at Wofford getting initiated into their sororities, exciting stuff! I for once decided not to attend a party - in an attempt to do my Government paper that was moved until Monday. The biggest epic fail of this week was the electricity going out in the Campus Life Building causing everyone to have lunch and dinner in Burwell which was a giant disaster. The Campus Life Building flooded with 5.5 feet worth of water and I was mad to find out that all the water was pumped out, I was really liking the idea of having a swimming pool!

This weekend most of the fraternities went off to Fall Weekend leaving the Row a quite place for a weekend, perfect time to catch up on some overdue homework!

It's Over

Yes, it's over, I hate to say it, but no more Halloween Decorations, Oodles of Candy, or people in ridiculous outfits. Last night was truly a travesty; there was rain, electronic band equipment, and parents everywhere, not that parents destroyed our weekend, we enjoyed having them at Wofford. It's the rain that pushed us under tents with 100 other people on the decks of the frat houses.

I would like to thank Ms. Ryann Kroske, she is an amazing person, she always has a smile on her face even though our lovely arboretum is throwing rain at us. Ryann and I met at SLI as you may have read in her blog, she has always been the loving character she is today. I want to give all Juniors a quick overview of the Summer Leadership Institute. It is a week long program ran by Milliken and Wofford College promoting leadership with workshops and engaging activities, throughout the week a man by the name of John Horton, who is a character would have us in our groups solving problems, putting together quick news cast and selling products through infomercials. The one thing I will never forget is being taught how to shag(for you Northerners, this is a dance, not what you were thinking) by two 70 year old people who were the back up dancers in Dirty Dancing, GROSS! We also had a few dances, which are always fun, we had our niches of people - the plaidtics, soccer dads, and cookie, formal dining classes, bowling nights, and movie nights. Wait, I forgot the most important thing, THE FOOD!, they had more food than Wal-Mart.

This weekend has come to and end, so hasn't the month, how EPIC! But I guess I can now look forward to Thanksgiving Food! Happy November!

Epic Fail

EPIC FAIL
Another Wofford word to add to the books. It seems that everything I do ends up being Choice or Epic. I have finally finished all the reading and writing for the next week, which is great since this weekend is HALLOWEEN! Another grand thank you to Pi Kappa Alpha for a great night of social functionality.

My Monday through Thursday afternoon was a typical week for any student at Wofford, cramming, studying, reading, and writing which all lead up to a well deserved Halloween Costume Party Thursday night. Oh, of course there was dancing at that Halloween Party, why would there not be?

And no, I was not doing the stanky leg, that is the official move of Caitlin Smith;  one hand in the air, the other to your side, and you rock and sway, rock and sway.

We can't forget about the Halloween Carnival we had for local kids in the neighborhood, I was fortunate enough to work with the Campus Union in serving Ice Cones to the little kids as well as the crafts stand with the College Republicans. You always gain a sense of pride when you know that you can actually help our your community, we at Wofford are always doing so with our Terrier Pride! That night I got to witness Dr. Mathewson and Dr. McCane go toe to toe about Rasslin with Science and Religion, a controversial debate still going on of how science and religion will always be at each others throats. It was interesting how they made Hulk Hogan seem like the fight between the two, great stuff.

I must say, if you can follow along reading these blogs, then I am quite impressed, I am so scattered brain and my writing is always so distraught. I would like to personally congratulate you for being able to read this mess.

It's begun

A grand Terrier welcome to all Prospective Students!

    I am quite excited to be blogging for Wofford College, of course I am the one who begins late, but I hope that some of my experiences can help you guys decide on a this great college! But before I give you my whole Wofford experience, you may require a quick briefing.

    Me llamo Tony Ream, I am originally from Boston, MA and I moved to wonderful Boiling Springs, SC 02/14/2003. I am a biology and government major, you don't need to know your major yet, but being the over achiever I am, I already know. I honestly hate talking about myself so if you are interested in knowing anything, I am here to answer questions!

It's begun

    Yes it has, Fall Break is here and thank God! A quick break from the rustle and bustle of college life and all the school work that comes with it is always nice. I am fortunate enough to not have had to take any mid-terms but still I reading and studying until the sun rises, but this may be my fault, I like to sleep from 1-6 right after class, when you are in college, DON'T TAKE NAPS!

College Re-Cap

Moving In - that was a fun filled day! I don't know where Wofford finds their O-Staffers, but moving futons after futons up 4 flights of stairs would make any person mad, but not Wofford's O-Staffers, they were the happiest people in the world! Don't think you won't make any friends, you meet more people in one day than you will ever meet your whole entire life!

We went up to Camp Greystone the day right after orientation and bonded with our fellow classmates, this is where you meet everyone. Everyone is still somewhat awkward and shy and it seems that when you are having fun, you meet random people who become your best friends, so don't worry about not making friends, I promise, you will! The best part of the day at Camp Greystone, wait for..............the grilled Rib-Eye with mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables as you watch the sun set over the Appalachian. But don't get too full, there is ALWAYS a dance party after you eat!

Band Parties! In downtown Spartanburg there was a band party with Matt Wertz and of course there was funnel cake, best way to meet people - sit with a random person on the trolley ride over and you'll make new friends.

Guys Bid Day - I wish I had pictures of this day, it was priceless! All the guys rushing will get their bids from their fraternities and would run out into their fraternities gathering to be thrown about as they crowd surf. Once all the guys have gotten their bids, they will all run to a mud pit behind their houses and get thrown around in the mud and then they finally make their way to the schools fountain where everyone is just swimming around in muddy water that is no more than 2 degrees. If you are considering on joining Greek Life, Wofford is a welcoming place, but don't forget, you can always remain an independent.

The best memories, Homecoming Week! It started off on Wednesday with the Trotline Band at the Intramural fields singing along to classic country songs such as "Family Tradition" with a grand firework display funded by the great alums to Wofford College. Thursday night we were fortunate enough to have Recycle Percussion perform at Wofford College right before they went off to Las Vegas to have their set show out there. Friday night is when we got to meet and mingle with alums in downtown as President Dunlap(who we all love!) cheered on the crowd as the cheerleaders performed their cheer to the awaiting crowd. The game was great even though we were beat by GSU, it was nice everyone was looking all spiffy and clean at the biggest game of the year right behind the highly anticipated game against Furman University.
