Hey Y'all!
Wow....it seems so long since I've gotten here to Wofford, there is just so much for all of you to catch up on...well, let's start with me!
Hello, my name is Tomas Moreno, I'm from California. Yes, I know what all of you are thinking...how did you get to Wofford?? Well, let's just say family showed me the way and my heart told me that this was where I belonged (AND IT WAS RIGHT!). I have a younger brother who is a freshman in High School, I LOVE to be random and just be as spontaneous as possible because I believe that spontaneity makes the world go round! (YAY!) Um...I'm a really great person to get to know and I'm a really fun person...and you should come and meet me if you can! :D
Now, to Wofford. Well, we are in our 4th week of school here and before that we had a week of orientation (not nearly as bad as it sounds lol!)
Ok, quick overview of orientation: Orientation staff was SOOOOOOO welcoming, they really just wanted to show you that here at Wofford, you would be welcomed (And I was!). That first week, you are bombarded with new things, new people, (new accents for me!), and new ideas...which can be a little scary at first but when you look around and see that everyone else is dealing with the same issues as you are (missing family, attempting to adjust, the MASSIVE amounts of new people, the new rules, the new freedoms (!), the everything) you realize that everything is going to be alright (at least I did!). Orientation was a lot of fun though, I learned to shag, I met the people that I know will be by my side for the rest of my life (with a few additions here and there) and I really got comfortable here!
Ok, now quick overview of the first 3 weeks so y'all will be caught up. Ok, in a few words the first 3 weeks were: dancing, techno, movies, fun, late nights, papers, readings, new teachers, terriers, paint, football!, cheering, Burwell, pizza, pillow-fights, bad smells, good smells, pranking, RA's, Chinese fire-drills, BEATING APP STATE!!!!!!!!!!!, swimming in the fountain, the Beacon, and sleepiness.
Ok, I think that's all...but really, the classes knew exactly how to integrate you into Wofford Ways. There is ALWAYS something to do here if you want. I paint up for ALL (ok, most) of the games along with the best RA in existence Hayes. I learned that you really don't need to sleep more than 3 hours a night to be fine. I learned that coffee is the best thing on the planet. I got some AMAZING friends that are always hanging out with me. Yes, I do somehow find time to study. I have meet some AWESOME upperclassmen that are extremely welcoming and fun. I LOVE the ability to just decide to go do something/meet up with someone without any need for explanation or prior notice AT ALL (at least for my friends lol). And I really decided that I LOVE Wofford (And no, I'm NOT being paid to say this, it is how I feel, honestly!).
Ok, this week, FINALLY!
Well, this week, the blog (which I have been fervently waiting for) has finally started up. We beat APP State to smithereens and showed the nation what Terriers really can do. We are playing Furman this weekend and that will include some MASSIVE paining and cheering that I cannot wait for (yes, I'm already working for the weekend...its what we do here lol!). I have two exams this week, one in Zoology, and one in Spanish. I had my first paper due in my Humanities class today (I think I did a decent job...I hope my professor agrees with me *crosses fingers*). And well, in general everything is now starting to pick up...but it almost seems as if it weren't, just because I feel ready for it (ya kno?). But all in all, I sill LOVE Wofford.
Well then, I have to go because I have to study for the aforementioned exams...I will let you know how everything goes!
