Whoa! I can still Blog?

So, I guess this means that I can still blog! Coolio!

I have been at camp for a long time now, and it has been pretty awesome! I have realized that I love being outside way more than I like to be inside. I have realized that there are more stars that anyone could imagine. I have learned that awesome people work at camps! Just to make this shorter, I have learned a lot!

Lets see. I just thought that I could give you guys some tips on what to bring! Or things that I had questions about.
1. Bring a fan, it will become one of your best friends.
2. Bring ear plugs. You may want to study, but that doesn't mean that everyone else does.
3. Lots and Lots of underwear. when you don't want to do laundry...those packs of underwear becomes your best friend!
4. Hoodies. That explains itself.
5. A planner. Trust me, this will help you so much, and it would be best to invest me.
6. Duck tape.
7. Storage containers.
8. A white board and a clip board. It really helps when you are studying.
9. Powerstrips.
10. Lamps.
11. Flashlights.
12. Flash cards.
13. Dictionary and Thesaurus.
14. Camera

Okay, those were random, but I just think that you should consider bringing all of those things, and if you don't, you could always go to wal-mart and get them.

If you have any questions, just email me. my email is arantmd@wofford.edu.
It will probably take me a long time to respond, because we don't really have internet access all the time here, but  will try my best!

I hope that I will have some of you guys for residents next year! TTyl!

Kathryn-My random roommate, crazy, and I love it! I am so lucky to have found someone as goofy as you! It is going to be so weird to wake up and not see you. It is going to be weird to come into the room and not see you reading, or making note cards for your botany box. haha. Thanks for being so awesome, and tolerating my loud messiness (even though I think that you are just as loud and messy, haha)

^^^^^^

Miya-Where do I start. I love your man voice. I am going to miss our nightly youtube sessions, our nightly dance parties, our nightly pig outs (my weight gain could be split between you and caroline). I think that we have laughed more than anything. I really like how we understand each others sense of humor and how one glance at the other can just crack us up!

Amanda-Man, how I am going to miss your disco parties, fruitloops loving, go diego go watching , letting me ride on the top of your car, coloring, "get out of my area", Jesus loving self...enough said. Thank you for just being you, for making me feel so comfortable. You are crazy and I think thats why we get along so well.

Ellen-I am sorry for almost invading your bubble when I first met you..I didn't know, haha. Thanks for all of the deep awesome conversations on God, Money, Love, and just life in general. I am so comfortable with you and I can pretty much tell you anything. I think that out of anyone, you probably know my background and my views of life the best. I also love the fact that we share the same views on so much.

Caroline- "uggghh" I wish that I could spell that sound, haha.  Thanks for making me so fat with your cup cakes and cakes. Thanks for teaching me how not to trust a _____(you know what I am talking about).  Thanks for teaching me that you are the only person that understands lost. Thanks for giving me a greater appreciation for Dave Matthews. Thanks for showing me that people decide to drive to Alabama in like 5 minutes....(crazy). N1494000059_30237722_8347858^^^^^^

Emily-Can I just say that I think that you are an undercover goofball, haha. Sorry for thinking that you were mixed, but the truth is that you just have really nice skin, haha. "na na na na" Thanks for tolerating my loudness in your room...all of the time. You are hilarious, and it took me a long time to realize that, but once you get to know you, you turn out to be really funny. I love the fact that you call out people (but subtlety).

Goodbye =)

Adventures! (57)

Tomorrow is move out day, and what can I say? It has been a very stressful, awesome, rewarding freshman year! I have learned so much about myself, I have learned a lot about others, and most importantly I have grown in my relationship with God. I have learned how blessed I am and how there are so many others that are not as fortunate at me. I have an AWESOME life, thanks to God, and I want to do everything that I can to get that across to everyone! This year has flown by; I can't believe that I am going to be a sophomore in college! WHAT! I know!

I am excited about the summer because I will be leading worship at Asbury Hills a long with some awesome people! Asbury Hills is a summer camp for kids and teens. I am so excited! What What!

It is going to be really weird when my family comes to move some of my stuff out today. I have to finish a take home exam for English and study for my Religion exam. I can take a break to move out though.

So, what have I been up to? lets get caught up!

The girls on my hall are doing a big painting! Everyone on the hall decorates one section.

I also went to a Christian concert with a bunch of my friends! It was really awesome, and we had some pretty great worship time! Josh Ridings was playing, and that means that we had a pretty awesome time!

I had to be trained in CPR in order to be an RA next year! It was a lot of fun. Amy Powers was my partner and we named our dummy Tedd. It was very fitting, I think.

All of the girls on my hall went out to eat. It is kind of like our "last supper" if you know what I mean. The last time that we will actually go out to eat with one another. We had so much fun! Then we went to the park!

I absolutely love the girls on my hall. We are all best friends and do everything together. I know that you don't get that a lot. A lot of halls keep their doors shut and really don't talk, but we always keep our doors open, and we are constantly in each others room.

Bye everyone! I don't know if this is my last blog or not, but if so! goodbye and i will see you next year =)

ONE!

ONE (112) ONE (118) ONE (23)

ONE (95)

Hey everyone! I wanted to tell you guys about the awesome time that we had with Vampire Weekend!

Firstly Wofford is a ONE campus. ONE is a grassroots campaign uniting people to end poverty within our lifetime.  Wofford took part in the ONE campus challenge! And came in #1! That is something to be proud of!  It is our goal to make poverty history! Each one of us can do something to help. No matter how insignificant you feel, just know that you are a very important part of this world, and without you, the world wouldn't be the same =)! You can make a very big difference in this world. Wofford is a very very small school, and look at the impact that we made!

www.ONE.org Check it out!

You should also look into the Millennium Development Goals! (MDGs).

http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/goals/gti.htm Check it out!
According to the website:

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are the world's time-bound and quantified targets for addressing extreme poverty in its many dimensions-income poverty, hunger, disease, lack of adequate shelter, and exclusion-while promoting gender equality, education, and environmental sustainability. They are also basic human rights-the rights of each person on the planet to health, education, shelter, and security.

Goal 1: Eradicate Extreme Hunger and Poverty
Goal 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education
Goal 3: Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
Goal 4: Reduce Child Mortality
Goal 5: Improve Maternal Health
Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases
Goal 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability
Goal 8: Develop a Global Partnership for Development

YOGURT-You On Growth Up Red Trees, duh! I am surprised that you didn't know YOGURT stood for that. Look below.

Long Time, No See

DSCN3615

DSCN3609I was doing so well with this blog at the beginning of the year…but do you know why? It was because my computer wasn’t acting retarded! Can I just say that if you are coming to Wofford, make sure that you have a decent laptop. Firstly the screen didn’t work, I got that fixed, now the fan doesn’t work, and it has like 200 viruses…no joke. This is why I need a mac! (My mother didn’t know what a mac was when she went to buy my laptop…pfft). I could do blogs in Miliken or the library…but I really don’t want to upload pictures to those computers….that is kind of weird, haha.

Today we had the Wofford Terrio! Each department decorates a golf cart and then a professor and student race down the road in front of old main. It is pretty awesome. We had a bunch of food and had an awesome time watching the race! The Philosophy department won, even though everyone knows that Campus Ministry really won :p

DSCN3619DSCN3627DSCN3621DSCN3629

Today was “One Day Without Shoes.” TOMS asked people to go a day without shoes to bring awareness to the thousands of children who contract diseases because they don’t have shoes. I didn’t wear shoes today, well, I had to wear them in burwell because shoes are required, but I didn’t wear them for the rest of the day. It was really weird because I was ready to wear shoes after an hour because the cement hurt my feet =/ that is just the price you pay for having beautiful feet I guess.

Whatwedo1 Wofford is a beautiful campus this time of year, but can I just tell you that if you have allergies it is going to kill you. I have suffered for the past week! I woke up one morning and my throat was killing me and my nose was burning. Turns out I have horrible allergies….and since Wofford is a national arboretum and there are blooms everywhere…I am pretty much miserable. It is okay though. I am getting better!

The cool thing about Spartanburg is that I am constantly finding school stuff to see and cool people to hang out with. Miya and I decided to go on an adventure to the public library in Spartanburg. I was surprised because I didn’t realize that it was so large and cool looking! My advice is not to wait the entire school year before going to the library! It would have been so nice to go study there! In the kid section of the library they had a cool little train that the kids could read in…..that is where I will be studying!

DSCN3541DSCN3543DSCN3546

So some crazy stuff happened with the power at Wofford, so all of the girls on my hall decided to have a sleepover in Miliken! It was pretty fun. We put the couches in a circle and played apples to apples!

DSCN3563DSCN3598DSCN3566DSCN3571

God has been so wonderful! as usual! He has been giving me so many opportunities music wise! I have been leading helping with Children's worship at Hope Point, and I am now applying to help lead worship at a summer camp! Hopefully everything will work out!

That is all!

We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.

Miya, Amy, and I went around Spartanburg and took lots of random pictures! So much fun my friends! I suggest that you try it!Apple

I definitely know that I am going to be an RA in Green, first floor to be exact! I am so excited! We had an RA meeting and I got to see all of the people that are going to be RAs with me next year. That is so awesome.  One of my best friends here is going to be an RA and so is my roommate’s boyfriend. A lot of girls on my hall have decided that they want to be RPMs (resident peer mentors).  We’re on spring break right now, so I really don’t know who actually got accepted to be RPMs.

I have been spreading the love of the guitar up and down the hall! I have been teaching my friend Vad how to play a little. He used what I taught him to teach Emily a few chords. It was awesome!

Apple8

I forgot to lock my door one day. I came back and Julius, my teddy bear, was taken hostage! There was a ransom note and they had taken pictures of him!

Meshas pictures!! 1079 Meshas pictures!! 1074

Classes are stressful. I don’t ever understand anything that is going on in Calculus, but that is okay, because I honestly don’t think that anyone knows what is going on in Calculus. I had an exam in that class and I do not think that it went well. I would just like to say that I actually did study a lot for that stupid exam, and I bet that I did horribly on it. I guess that that means that I just have to work even harder.

I had an 8-10 page paper due in Religion, and a 5-6 page paper due in English, so I was a little stressed. I am super glad that all of that is over and that spring break is here! Whoop whoop!

I never know what to do when we have breaks because I am so used to being around so many people. When you are at Wofford, there are people that are around all of the time. There are constantly places to go and things to do. Not in little ol’ Jefferson. Some girls on my hall are in Seattle with Ellen. They took a picture of me so that when they take pictures at landmarks, I can be in the pictures =) isn’t that so exciting!

I went to a Party. Ohhhhhhh Buddy. I will NEVER do that again. It wasn’t at Wofford, but it was somewhere else, and my gosh, that was the most uncomfortable experience of my life!  I have figured out that I am a sheltered nerd.  That is okay though. I would much rather be reading, playing guitar, painting pottery, or making others laugh… You could say that Parties are nonpolar and that I am polar. Parties and Mesha don’t mix.  That was such an awesome analogy…GO ME! Here is a picture of me after the party....as you can see.....i am devastated!

Apple5

I have my midterm grades, and I didn’t do as well as I would have liked, but that is okay. I have half a semester to pull all of my grades up. I am doing the worse in Calculus and English…..big surprise…not. It looks like Calculus is this semester’s equivalent to Spanish.  Can I just say that when you prospective get to Wofford next year, that you should take advantage of the tutors. I think that when I get back to Wofford, I am going to start getting tutored for Calculus everyday.

I got my TOMS! For  those of you who don’t know what TOMS are…you are missing out. This is how it works. You buy a pair of shoes, and a pair of shoes is given to a child that needs them. I got an ash colored pair, and I love them! WHOOP!

Lets see.hmm. I am now helping Tyler Swain lead children’s worship at the church that I go to. It is pretty awesome, and I love it.

I am now addicted to the band Interpol. My gosh, Untitled is such an awesome song.

That might be all my friends.

Bible verse of the Blog: John 15:4

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

Bye everyone!

March 09, 2009

Warm Weather makes me happy!

I would just like to say that my life is boring and that is why I don't post as much as I used to.

My life basically consists of reading, reading, and more reading. That is no lie. I have read more in the last school year than I have in my entire time of living my life!

The weather has been so BALLIN! I have been able to wear shorts! I just think that it is weird that 4 days ago it was freezing and now everyone is complaining about how hot it is. My gosh. It is burning up. The good thing is that I have been able to play guitar outside. The other day my roommate painted while I played guitar and it was really really nice!

It is supposed to be cold again, which is okay I guess, but kind of disappointing.

Oh! I am in a semester long classical guitar class now! It is kind of stressful, but I like it. I just feel that each time that I go back, I have to be way better, which is not entirely the case, but it is still very stressful.

Classes have been going well.

If you have questions ask me!

Bible Verse of the Blog: Jeremiah 15:16
Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts.

I love you, You love me =)

Let me see. Life has been pretty busy my friends......yes...pretty busy. This week alone has been very interesting.

It started snowing Sunday night and in a span of 2 hours you couldn't see anything! It was amazing! I made a very bad decision and wore Converses outside while having a snowball fight. When I got back in I couldn't feel my feet! That is such a true story...
N1002630073_30188679_7692869
I had one paper and 2 exams this week. Not fun. The tests were in Calculi(my name for calculus) and biology. Haha.....omgoodness. It was not pretty, but it is okay, I will do better next time! The paper was alright, I think. I might get my paper results tomorrow.

I am going to be an RA! BOO YAH! I am going to be in Greene and that is so exciting! That means if you are reading this, then you might be my resident next year!(excluding people who are not going to be incoming freshmen and guys). Be happy anyway!

I want a longboard, but I don't think that I will convince my parents to buy me one. I just want to cruise around campus, you know?

I am going to be making 30 videos about Wofford for this cool website, I will give you some info in the future. Stressful though. That is a lot of work!

That is all for now! If you have any questions let me know!
