Oprama! (that's Oprah + Obama, in case you were wondering)

WOW. That's all I have to say about the rally in Columbia today. WOW. We had RIDICULOUSLY amazing seats. We were in the 4th row. Pretty much the only people who had better seats then us were the people who won them. And they were sitting with Gayle (Oprah's bestie / rumored lover).

Well, I don't have too much to talk about and I only have a few minutes (finishing up my studying for government tomorrow morning). So here's some pics....

Dsc00364 Tomas, Alex, and Kate while we were waiting to get in for 4 hours....

I studied government. It was kinda funny. I was all sprawled out on the concrete with Tocqueville's "Democracy In America" and my notes all over the place.

Dsc00378 They had a few bands play while we were waiting for Michelle (his wife), Oprah, and then Barack himself to speak.

This is The Working Title. I'm kinda in love with them now.

Us 4 crazy Wofford kids. We were loud. And slightly obnoxious. But it was in a good way. We got a muy excelente "OPRAH WINFREY (clap clap clap)" chant going on.

PS, if you're wondering about the shades and tshirts....it was 70-something degrees in sunny. Yes, it's December. And yes, when I go home in 2 days it will be freezing. Literally below the freezing temperature of water.

Michelle Obama (my new hero) and then Oprah (everyone's hero).

The man of the hour. Senator Barack Obama (I'm in love with all the good pics I got of him).

Dsc00386 There were CRAZY amounts of people! Williams-Brice Stadium was half full. We actually broke a world record. Everyone who came in got a call sheet of 4 phone numbers of SC voters to call (when we got the signal) and we created the world's largest phone bank (the Guiness Book of Records presented a plaque right afterwards).

Alright. I'm going to attempt to study Spanish a bit more, but I'm going to leave with a quote (and only cause Tomas gave me permission to end with a quote this time):

And so the final countdown ensues.....

5 days. 2 classes. 2 finals. 1 paper.

I'm starting the final countdown until the end of my first semester at college. It's almost surreal. Considering that I'm planning on hibernating in my room pretty much all weekend (save for going to the Barack Obama rally in Columbia on Sunday, but I'll elaborate on that later) and studying, I figured I'd update you fine people now.

Today was my last day of humanities. Sad day. Even though it was at 8 am, I still really enjoyed it. We had a lot of interesting debate (the entire class was about torture).....scratch that, a lot of HEATED debate........but I also read a lot of uber cool (but really hard) articles written by WAY intelligent people (want an interesting read??? try anything written by Elaine Scarry. Now THAT'S hardcore).

Dsc00343 It was also my last day of softball! Let me tell you, that class was ridiculous. Me and my good friend, Alex, were the ONLY girls in that class. But it's all good; Coach Traylor was totally amazing and realized that both of us were, um, lacking in the skills department. Me and her made a HUGE mess in the bathroom in our hall trying to fill up water balloons, which we took to class in hopes of ambushing this one kid, but he never showed up! So all the guys came and took our balloons and kinda beasted us. Sad day.

We also played soccer (to switch it up a little on the last 2 days), and I totally just stood off to the side so I wouldn't get destroyed by all the guys in my class (they were all super hardcore about it). You have to realize, I only played soccer for a year or two in elementary school. When I did get on the field, I was either A) goalie or B) sitting (yes, SITTING) and picking flowers. Granted, that's what I did in t-ball when I was little, but that was only when I was in the outfield. And in Little League, the outfield doesn't see too much action (especially when I was up to bat).

I've seemed to develop the sinus-y/congestion-y/sick-y disease that's rampant at Wofford right now (I believe Dr. Sweitzer referred to it as a "plague" of sorts). Apparently this disease rears it's ugly head this time of year, being that the weather's getting colder (which, to me, isn't really that cold yet) and everyone's starting to uber-stress about exams. But, I went to Health Services and got them to write me a prescription for some nice meds, so that's starting to clear up. True, I sound awful and they kinda knock me out for an hour or so after I take them, but I feel a thousand and seven times better.

Hmmm....Tomas and Alex and I are planning on going to the Barack Obama rally in Columbia this Sunday. It should be crazy cool - OPRAH freaking WINFREY is going to be there. The doors open at 12:30 for a 2:30 start, but we're leaving Wofford at like, 7 am so that we can camp out and (hopefully) get great seats. We're all going to bring stuff to study for finals while we wait. I'll try to update on the rally as soon as I get the chance, but insanity will ensue once I get back to Wofford that evening.

I have 2 finals, both on Monday: government in the morning and spanish in the afternoon. After that, I'm all done for the semester! Which means I'll prob spend Monday night and most of Tuesday morning cleaning, packing, and generally decompressing from my exams. My flight's Tuesday evening. I'm excited to go home and play in the snow and go ice skating and see my friends and my family - especially my brother, Tyler, whom I haven't seen since I've been here at Wofford.

Alrighty. Ah. II'm gonna peace out, but leave a few pictures for your consideration:
