Mars

N60601087_30110853_5594So just to prove how crazy cool western PA is.......

This is the square in downtown Mars, PA. Yes, that is a spaceship. And yes, we're home to the Mars High School Fightin' Planets (And yes, that's snow. Apparently a lot of people here don't see it very often). Just wanted to indulge you in the fabulousness that is Mars.

Gotta love it!

Um, duh!

Hello!

In my ranting I forgot to mention that I'm planning on being a government major and then going to law school after graduation.

Also, Facebook is a beautiful thing, and I'd lurrrve to add you as a friend (if you want me to add me) and answer any questions you have. Seriously, anything.

Wofford-The Coolest School You've Never Heard Of

Dsc00140 Ok, so it's really bizarre and surreal to actually sit down and realize that I've been here at Wofford for the better part of a month now. But, before I just launch into extolling the excellence that oozes from every pore of the body that is Wofford, I'll catch you cool kids up on me.

So I'm Mallory Smith. I love the color pink (like, truly love it), sarcasm, movies of all kinds, and pretty much any type of music except country. I sing all the time, am obsessed with musicals, Disney movies, and would marry Indiana Jones instantaneously if the opportunity presented itself.

I'm from Mars (yes, like the planet. You have complete permission to mock me, all the people here and back home do too), which is north of Pittsburgh, PA. Yeah, I know, it's uber far away from Wofford. So, of course, the next question is--"how did you hear about Wofford?" Simple. Word of mouth. A friend told me about Wofford, I checked it out, fell in love, and lived happily ever after! Well, ok, maybe not that last bit, but I did find the college of my dreams. Which is kinda the next best thing.

01370016_2 Let's see, I have two younger brothers AND two younger sisters. They're (ready?) Tyler (17), Darrin (15), Carly (12), and Olivia (7). So, add in my parents, and you get a family that's always in motion. I love them all and miss them lots, but so far I'm holding up very well as far as homesickness goes.

Well, my time at Wofford has been crazy insane so far. My class schedule's pretty hardcore, I'm taking 17 credit hours. But I pretty much like all my classes (especially Wofford Singers, which is THE best class you will ever take at this school), and even though some of them are pretty tough (government and humanities), they're still super interesting and I love them a lot.

Asides from that, my time at Wofford has resulted in dance parties in Tomas's room (without dancing, coffee, or movies, all of which were promised), jumping into 46 degree water on the rafting Summit, meeting people from all over, seeing more palmettos on things that were ever possible, learning a whole Dsc00146_4 new set of vocabulary (coozies, croakies, Rainbows, and "fixin' to", just to name a few), me realizing that my old definition of "preppy" was just blown out of the water, trying out for and getting a part in the fall play, cheering on the AMAZING WOFFORD TERRIERS as they BEAT APP STATE, starting in the recruitment process for sororities (more updates on that to come), joining a softball class and realizing that I am one of two girls in the class (17 boys, however, so I'm not complaining too badly), dancing the night away at the Row, realizing how big of an ordeal doing your laundry is, writing papers, completely restructuring my sleeping habits, a large dependency on caffeine and coffee products, being thankful for my shower flip-flops, meeting a ton of amazing people, and (of course) extreme sleep deprivation. Welcome to the life of a college freshman.

Oh, explaining pictures (from the top). Me and my roomie, Covington (who's the best roomie IN THE WORLD), then me and my little sisters, and then me and my friend, Tori, at the App State game last Saturday.

Well, I have play practice, so it's time to peace out. Plus this post is totally epic in proportions. Stay classy!
