My dearest Indian friends that I see every day on the street,
Yes I am a tall white woman. Even though I might be the first one you have ever seen I would appreciate it if you did not look at me like I am a circus animal. I can see when you point at me and poke your friends and stare at me and start laughing. I don’t understand what about me is funny and if you let me know that would be highly appreciated. Also I would be fine with shaking your hand but when you awkwardly touch my knee or my hip it makes me feel uncomfortable. Let me just get this in your head right now, touching me will not make you any cooler, also I am not a rabbit’s foot. Also if you want to take a picture of me please just ask because I have had so many cameras in my face that the next random person I see taking a picture of me I will cause a scene, so really when I say ask before you take your picture I really am looking out for your safety. Also when I am talking to another Indian that doesn’t suddenly mean every one crowd around and hear what the tall white girl likes to listen too. I promise it is not that interesting. Now don’t get me wrong I love talking to you and learning your stories but when you act like I’m a circus animal then our friendship is in jeopardy. Also to go ahead and answer your questions, yes I am tall and yes there are men in the US that are taller than me. Can’t wait to improve our friendships!
Your awkwardly tall white woman friend,
Lucy
