Family Weekend...

So this was a rather insane weekend at Wofford....Family Weekend! My fam actually didn't come up. My lil sis is at the beach and my mama hates to make the drive by herself. She gets lost a lot, so we decided that it was best she stay home. It seems like almost everyone's parents made some appearance this weekend though. I loved all the events that went on this weekend.

Friday....I played @ the Sr. Reception in Milliken. It was a fairly dressy affair and I never thought about Milliken being anything, but the place to live when you study! :D It was gorgeous. Wish I had brought my camera.

Saturday......

First thing, was brunch out behind Old Main. There was a band and it was really nice. I ate with Aleah and her parents. There's the two of us @ brunch.Me_aleah_brunch

(More roomie bonding to come soon!)

Next, it was time to head off to the football game vs Elon. Not the ending I would've hoped for; Elon won...grrr!!! But, I still love my team!

Elon_game_2_3

(Can't wait for Western Carolina on Thursday!)

Wofford Singers had a concert on the steps of Old Main. I went to see my roomies and was pleasantly surprised to see many more of my friends in the crowd on the steps.  It was cool.          Wofford_singers_5_3

Next, guys' soccer game! Again against Elon and again we lost! But, it was still a game worth sitting out in the cold for! I love my soccer player friends and I cheered loudly for them!                 Mens_soccer_vs_elon_6_2

After that, I spent some seriously random time with David, Dane, & Nick. Chelsea came and we continued random time.                                                                                                 Chelsea_dane_4_2

After that the crowd dispersed and my night ended at 4am when I arrived back at Wofford after going to Papa's with some of my Kappa Sigma friends! It was a blast. Woke up @ 2 this afternoon, but it was a weekend totally worth it!

Lab HW time...maybe! LAter!

Monday....

The most insane day of my week, this particular one even more so.

Class til 12:10.

Check Facebook/email.

Lunch with Ally, Courtney, Mary Beirne, & Andrew. (Amazingly fun!)

Finish lab homework. (In my defense I do always try to do it early and it never works out.)

Lab from 2:00 to 5:00. (Not awful all the time, but I can't say I'd go straight to fun either.)

Dinner in a few mins.

Men's soccer. (Go Armin, Scott, & Kentrell! They = awesome. If you don't know them, you should!)

Essay revision (probably during the soccer game...)

Lecture on Creation by a guest speaker tonight in Leonard Auditorium. (Can't wait!!!!)

Check and see if the soccer game's still on. (Hope so, this means a longer break from work!)

Chill a minute. (Definitely my fav part of this whole schedule thing.)

Studying with Syd! (Love her! Also amazing!)

Gym with Andrew (and Ally if she's feeling motivated :D)

Facebook. (Again. But, it's vital to my social life with the folks from home!)

Shower. (YAY! Winding down....)

Bed. (Super comfy, but probably still get there around 1ish, I have issues with early bedtimes...)

Up @ 8ish because I have a 9:00 meeting with Dr. Goldey. (Gotta work on my lab/bio grades...)

The thought of this day makes me wanna die, except that I love every second of it in some way shape or form. Gotta run. Dinner summons. Later kids!

Just had it and it was the most amazing experience of my life! Randomness at its best and luckily I had my camera there to document the most important parts.

Views....

So, it's been a little bit since I popped one of these out. It's so weird, I think of so much stuff to talk about that I hardly know where to start half the time! But, today's walk provided me with an amazing topic! Wofford is so awesomely beautiful!

I promise this isn't as random as it sounds. I, being the good little country girl that I am, enjoy grass and trees and nature in general more than the average person. I have absolutely no problem saying that Wofford's campus is part of the reason that I chose it. Old_main_night_8 On a night stroll (with a friend), we talked about the amazingness of Old Main at night. It's almost like a painting, but it must seriously one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. If nothing else, I think that everyone should see Old Main at night because it's a sight you really have to see to get.

My other favorite thing about Wofford is how green and well landscaped this place is. We have some of the greenest most inviting looking grass I have ever seen in my life. And being from the middle of nowhere I've seen some amazing grassy fields in my day. From_beside_old_main I took this picture walking from Olin the other day. I was right beside Old Main and I looked up and the grass looked so green and the sky looked so blue and it was just so picturesque I couldn't help but whip out my camera and snap a few shots!

My point in blogging about Wofford's amazing natural beauty? If you're really into nature and amazingly walkable places...come to Wofford. It's so great! I never get tired of strolling campus....day or night. So people come stroll Wofford ASAP!!! I think I'm headed back out for another stroll right now! Later kids!

This Weekend...

Was utterly amazing. I hope everyone saw the Citadel game! I was not lucky enough to get to go to Charleston because of a previous engagement; I did, however, rush home and plop down in front of the TV. There was mucho yelling on my part. I definitely was thrilled at the result of that game. It just reaffirms the fact that Wofford is basically amazing. Dsc00168So amazing, in fact that I took pictures of the TV screen during the game! Yeah,it was a good day for me. I got to watch Wofford win (yet again) in the comfort of my own home. My little sister may have been slightly upset since I woke her up with my screaming during touchdown # 2, but I'm fairly sure I'm forgiven. I'm glad I have such an amazing team to cheer for now that I'm in college.

I went home for Homecoming on Friday night. There was no such glorious victory for my high school. They pretty much got stomped. It was sad. But, I was soooo happy to get to see everyone again. Since I had bought my digital camera about an hour prior to the game, I was happily snapping pictures all night. First at the game & then @ dinner with the majority of the gang afterward. After wandering around a campus full of still fairly new faces for the past month or so, it was so great to get back home and see my friends' wonderfully familiar faces again! YAY! Me_laura I was also super excited because I got this totally cute picture of my little sis and I being all "Wofford-esque" at our high school football game. It was like the perfect combo of all my favs and so now it is currently serving as my background on my laptop.

Ok, as much as I'd love to type for days, I totally have to go do lab homework because I somehow ended up accidentally putting it off yet again last night and I have lab at 2 and right now it's 12:58! So, I'll leave you with my favorite exclamation from Saturday! "YEEEESSSSS! GO WOFFORD!!!!"

Yesterday...

So, yesterday was a ridiculously blogworthy day. By the end of it I was totally in no condition to blog, so I'll do it now!

Let's see. I had my one class yesterday....Humanities. Mine's on madness and so we read "Benito Cerrano" by Herman Melville for class yesterday and discussed it. I recommend that story to the masses. It's stupidly long, but it presents a quite interesting lesson on perspectives. I loved it! So, go read it! That's all I'm sayin! Anyway...I had a track meeting after humanities!!!! YAY! Indoor season starts soon & I'm fairly thrilled! Whooooo! It was basically filling out eligibility forms and talking about stuff we can't do...not too bad all in all. I came back and watched Rubi with Aleah. And we had popcorn, which we decided is the only food that we have in our room that we eat on a regular basis...pretty funny! But, let me go  back and explain Rubi for a minute. It's this Spanish soap opera that we watch an episode of for Spanish class every week. It's a fairly intense show and Aleah and I pretty much love it, so we took the opportunity to spend some fun roomie bonding time watching it yesterday because it was pouring down rain. After that, I took a nap for a few hours and then woke up and went to go play Ultimate Frisbee. If you have never played Ultimate, I seriously recommend it. There's a group that plays up here on the intramural fields Monday thru Thursday from 3:30 to 5 or so....Yesterday we played in the rain! It was the most seriously amazing experience of my life! I fell a lot and was pretty icky by the time I left at 5:30 but it was still awesome. I left frisbee and went straight to the yoga class they have in the fitness center. I was really wet and covered in grass and I probably didn't smell my best, but I still went. And it was awesome!!!! I was so relaxed and felt so good after I left. So, I recommend yoga to the masses, too. After yoga, I went and put on warmer, drier clothes and went to dinner. I ate with some of the guys from Ultimate and it was fun! BUT, when we left it was pouring down rain again so I got soaked....AGAIN! Rest of the night was: shower. Milliken to do my Rubi summary. Chai Tea Latte (super yummy). Hanging with my diagonal neighbors and bestest buds Mary Beirne, Courtney, and Ally. Got sick. Went and got a ginger ale. Got sick again. Bed.

Understand why I didn't blog last night now? :) Anyways...fixin' to leave! Later!

Home...

So, I figured I would let the masses in on a little secret today. Going home after you've been away for a few weeks is the most amazing experience ever! And even funnier is that you don't even have to miss home a lot for the experience to rock. I'm actually about to leave to go home for the second time since I've moved in up here. Last weekend was my first time back and it was awesome. People are thrilled to see you and the fam is amazingly awesome because your prescence has been so sorely missed.

This weekend is cool. I'm a little frustrated because I have to miss the guys' Bid Day, but it's HOMECOMING! Only the most massively thrilling event of the year for me when I was in high school. It's a little odd to be going back for homecoming, but I am soooo excited! Firstly, I get to see at least half of my gang tonight. Since I haven't seen any of them (except Colleen) in like 5 or 6 weeks, that's pretty thrilling. We all split and I ended up here by myself. Colleen and Ashley went to Clemson & Susan and Jody went to USC. Needless to say, it's been a chore getting everyone home at the same time! In fact, two of our number are missing Homecoming. Randy and Daniel had prior engagements, but in a way I'm glad. It means my friends are finding college life as thrilling as I am and I'm quite happy to know that!

I missed my mom and my sister and my mom's mashed potatoes, so yeah....going home = great. Especially since I get mashed potatoes this weekend! YAY!!! Hopefully it doesn't rain on Homecoming tonight! Hope everyone has an amazing weekend like I know I'm going to! Later!

The Greeks...

Yesterday was Sorority Bid Day. Serious insanity. I must say I was quite happy to not be one of the screaming crowd of girls yesterday. However, since the screaming crowd surrounded the building across from my dorm, I couldn't do anything but go see what was going on that required so much noise. With the exception of my roomie, my diagonal neighbor and myself, all the girls on my hall were rushing. Personally, I don't see the point, but to each her own, y'know? Anyway yesterday was massive noise until midnight or so. First the screaming as the sororities got their girls and then all the squealy excitement when all the girls got back from their first meeting with their new sororities. I'm pretty much thrilled they're done b/c girls' rush looks so stressful. It made me wish I were a boy. If I were a boy, I might actually consider being Greek if I knew I'd get a bid from Kappa Sigma. Those guys = amazing. Pretty much my first constant hangout group here at Wofford. But, the guys pretty much just hang out and talk. There aren't 800 million rules like there are for the girls. Me, I'm quite happy being an independent. It's a happy life and I can make friends without having to blow ridiculous amounts of money....YAY!!! I don't hold it against the Greeks though, I've met some of them who are pretty cool kids. But, that probably won't ever be me. It's nice, though. Even though Wofford is known for being a hardcore Greek school, I don't feel out of place or excluded because I didn't rush or pledge. Hopefully the GDIs will be better about making their prescence known from now on. Yesterday, since all the Greeks were dealing rush/pledge stuff, I got to meet some fairly cool independents who are quite proud of their status, so yay for that! Ok. I feel like I'm rambling so I'm totally gonna go now, but not without saying GO INDEPENDENTS!!!! Ok. Done.
