Left Coast Envy

Well, today is Monday. Normally, that would suck, but today is different since it is officially spring break right now for the Terriers. Sweet!

As you might be wondering (but also might very well not be), I am in the ATL for spring break with my boy Tyler Whatley. I'm pretty stoked because I haven't gotten to see Tyler since he left Wofford. If you're curious as to what other people are doing/normally do for spring break...many go home and hang with the fam & friends, a lot of people go to Myrtle Beach and other places of equal sandiness/wateriness, and I guess others go to other places...

Since I don't like to break promises, I figured I would drop a few late Easter treats in the  "Blog Basket" for you. The following pictures are from the majestic Easter egg hunt held on the lawn in front of Old Main. I would say they are all quite "eggcellent"!!

Sooooo, the Easter egg hunt was pretty fun. Even though I didn't really find anything (the purple egg I got was actually just empty with a Laffy Taffy wrapper in it), there were some pretty killer snow cones being served. (I got strawberry cheesecake, which wasn't that good in reality but was interesting nonetheless.) AND, my picture was put in the paper!! Click HERE to check it out!!

And while I'm reflecting on past blogs, I remember telling you of my efforts to try and get The Starting Line to come and play at Wofford for Earth Day. Unfortunately, their price was about the same as Wofford's annual tuition, which was definitely not in our budget. Oh well, at least I got a sense of the reality of it. I think we'll just have to settle for some lame, mediocre cover band now, since The Working Title was also going to cost too much. Money, money, money... It really makes me mad that both bands cost so much too, especially The Starting Line, because I wanted to try and get something a little bit more different out to Wofford that the student body would still enjoy. It seems like the only bands that ever play at the Row and a majority of school events are cover bands. Most of these bands sound terrible and are awful when it comes to covering songs. Even if they are good, I can't stand to hear the same classic rock/southern rock songs being played weekend after weekend. I feel like kids today live in the past way too much and don't even bother to at least try and listen to the new music (and not just radio hits) that is being put out today. By no means is all of the music being put out today great - in fact, a lot of it is garbage...just like in every genre and every generation - but we should give it a chance and pay our respect where it is deserved. So many people in the world today seem so narrow-minded, and I wish that would change. But some places, like "the South" and all that it "stands for", might not ever change.

As for the rest of spring break, I'm not sure what's going down yet. So far, I've chilled on a boat and spent the night in it's luxurious wormhole with Tyler and friends; celebrated Taylor's birthday; and indulged in Mrs. Whatley's delicious French toast! I'll try and update you later in the week if I'm not too busy. Spring Break '08!!
