Alright sports fans, we're here in the bottom of the semester with only one week left to go. Unfortunately, it is the most feared of them all...finals week. A test of perseverance; of sleeping upright in chairs betwixt Western Civ chapters; of perpetually imbibing caffeine and energy drinks not approved by the FDA; of constantly struggling between the forces of Facebook and the final English paper.  However, we shall persist.

As far as school goes, this week was not too bad. The professors were pretty good about trying to review and calm us before our exams, rather than slathering on new subjects for study. Concerning my exam schedule, I have Western Civ on Monday, Botany on Tuesday, and Spanish on Wednesday. I also have a paper for English due on Friday, which will serve as our final for the class. For those wondering, I think most people's exams turn out to be on different days. The most you'll ever have on a day is two exams, and your professor might even let you take your exam on another day if they have another section of that same class.

While the past week was busy, it was crucial to at least make room for a Cinco de Mayo dinner on Monday.

Soon We'll Be Living In The Future

Alright, with my Spanish and Botany tests down, the only thing standing between me and my finals is a research paper for English. If anybody has written any opinion papers on the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act, just send me an email and we can discuss prices.

Last week was busy and pretty hard, but I realized during the middle of it that I don't so much mind studying. When you think about it, it's pretty sweet. I mean, I just sat down on Thursday night/Friday morning for many an hour to study and actually learn botany. I just filled my head up with anything and everything botany. You could say that there was a little botany plant of knowledge inside my head just growing and growing into what hopefully turned out to be a beautiful "A" on my test. But grades aside, I really am starting to like botany a lot. Possible focus in my major? ...I think possibly maybe. I guess the thing I can't stand about school is having to do pointless work or memorize material that is truly of no worth to the general population. And to be honest, Wofford and its genius professors are pretty good about avoiding that kind of stuff.

To celebrate my hard work, I went out to the "Shuckin' & Shaggin'" event at Old Main with the good old bro crew on Friday night. While I'm not a fan of southern tradition, crackin open some ooey gooey oysters is one part of it I don't mind.

They also had some events of fun going on Thursday night. I guess the school wants us to have as much fun as possible before entering into the fiery hell of finals. During the afternoon, there were some blow-up obstacle courses, sumo wrestling, and fried Oreos and funnel cakes all running amuck on the lawn.

Thursday night, this band who liked to call themselves "North Mississippi Allstars" came to play. Since I was trying to be scholarly and review my botany, I was unable to see most of the performance. However, I did take a break to catch the tail-end of the performance. It was actually pretty tasty from what I heard, and everyone seemed to be having a really good time. The drummer also played on the washboard, and it was pretty siq. Check it...

Other than that, not too much else is going on. I gotta knock out that English paper, then it's study, study, study for final exams next week (May 12-16). Peace out thugz.

Sudden Death In Carolina

Hi there love bugs. Spring is up in the air, and that means new blogs too! That should probably be an advertisement for Wofford blogs or something. It would make trillions...maybe even billions or millions.

So, last week - despite having little (when I say little, I mean only a few hours as opposed to a few days) academic work to do - I seemed to be swamped in stuff without fail. Numero uno last week was registration for fall '08 classes. As always, registration for classes was stressful and intense. As a rising sophomore (but still a really fresh man), it is still somewhat difficult to get the classes you really want. Usually, you can get what you need (or an override...a savior in the world of computerized sign-ups), it just might be with the teacher you heard was "really hard and to never take unless you wanted to experience excruciating pain." Anyways, I was in the first group of current freshmen to pick classes, so it worked out wonderfully. (Don't poison my drink if you are a current freshmen who is mad/upset/possibly suicidal at this point.) I got the Bass Man for General Chemistry and Moss for Genetics. As a Biology major, you too will probably be taking those classes your sophomore year. I'm stoked, though, for my Learning Community. A Learning Community, as you may already know, links courses from two different disciplines by integrating similar themes. Dr. Jones teaches the religion class (Religion, Philosophy, & Identity), and Dr. Dinkins teaches the philosophy class (Intro to Philosophy). As I've probably said ten times before, Dr. Dinkins is freakin awesome, and I'm really excited to be amongst her young Padawans again. Dr. Jones's class sounds great too, as it sounds like I will actually be living I ♥ Huckabees. Plus, my earliest class doesn't start until 1:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays next year - justifying my late-night sneaking between the boundaries of the Internet, academia, fast food, and procrastination.

So, registration was last Thursday. Along with it, celebrations for Earth Day were taking place. I was supposed to help set up for the event, but I wasn't able to as a result of some issues that came up during my registration. However, I was able to catch the end of the organic lunch out on the lawn. I must say, a great deal of tastiness and inside-my-mouth dance parties were to be had. There were free gift giveaways (Nalgene bottles to reduce the number of bottled waters thrown away by students, etc.), prizes, and even a hybrid car test-drive center on Campus Drive. The event was a tremendous success; hats off to Zach Chillag.

And speaking of cars, I GOT A NEW CAR! Although it's not straight out of the oven, it might as well be...2008! Dank! Now I just have to hope my sister doesn't wreck it before I get home. Plus, I get to blow all my summer paychecks on putting in some new speakers, deck, and whatever else I feel unnecessary. Music and driving...so tasty...especially when the drive home to Texas is 16 hours. Thanks again Mom and Dad!

As for the weekend, it was very "formal." On Friday, I went to the Theta Formal, which was a good time with a lot of goofy dancing going on...aka "the finger point." Brett snapped a few shots of me in the duds before I left...

Then, Saturday came after Friday, which was pretty odd. Terrier Play Day was that day, so the good old boys at Sigma Nu set up a limbo booth for the kids. Brett ran a mean booth and challenged many kids to become better than they were before. Both he and the kids met great achievement that fine Saturday morn. At night, the Tri Delta Formal went down. It looked kinda like this...
